Dr Lutz Bertling stepped down as President of Bombardier Transportation on 9 December. He is replaced by Laurent Troger, appointed Chief Operating Officer only this year, who joined Bombardier in November 2004 as Vice-President Services for Europe, after working for Alstom for 15 years.
Dr Bertling joined Bombardier in June 2013, and at an investor day on 24 November spoke about the company turnaround plan OneBT, emphasising the need to increase product standardisation, centralise the global supply chain and bid for contracts more selectively. He gave similar press interviews on 1 December.
Canada’s La Caisse de depot et placement du Québec (CDPQ) has recently agreed to acquire a 30% stake in the company. Three of the seven directors on the new board are to be CDPQ appointees.
