The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has approved a EUR10m loan to bus and rail vehicle manufacturer Bozankaya, designed to strengthen the offering of the Turkish company in global markets and allow it to develop a metro platform. The loan will fund expansion of its Ankara plant, as well as an automated welding capability.

Bozankaya is to act as a subcontractor for Siemens in producing 22 metro trainsets for the Bangkok Skytrain elevated metro; the funding will enable the firm to more efficiently complete this contract.

General Manager Aytunç Günay said, “With this new landmark partnership with Siemens, and with the support of the EBRD, we will be flying the flag for Turkish engineering across the world.”
