CRRC subsidiary Nanjing Puzhen SR Rail Transport has been awarded three metro and light rail rolling stock contracts in China worth a combined CNY2.1bn (USD309m).
The first contract is a CNY971m (EUR142m) award from Hefei Urban Rail Transit for the supply of trains for the city’s second 27.6km (17.1-mile) metro line, which will have 24 underground stations and is due to open in 2017.
The second contract, worth CNY808m (EUR118m) is from Shanghai Rail Transit for metro trains for Phase 3 of line 8 of the Shanghai Metro.
The third is from Suzhou New District Tramway for line 2 of the Suzhou National New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone light rail system and is worth CNY326m (EUR49m). The first 18.1km (11.2-mile) line in the city opened in October 2014 and currently has a fleet of CSR Nanjing Puzhen-supplied low-floors trams based upon Bombardier’s 100% low-floor Flexity 2 platform.
Delivery of the vehicles will take place between 2016 and 2017.
