Edinburgh: first steps to Leith

Trams could still run to Leith if proposals to take Edinburgh’s tramway to the area are revived. Construction would have to begin by 2021 and be finished by 2026 to avoid having to ask the Scottish Parliament to give renewed permission to build the line.
A decision on whether to go ahead is expected in the spring. If it happens, the extension would be expected to cost around GBP80m (EUR100m), and trams could link up with a major city centre development.
