Transport for Greater Manchester (UK) has shortlisted four organisations to bid to operate and maintain Metrolink under a ten-year concession from 2017 when the current deal ends.

The four all have existing UK operations, and include the KeolisAmey consortium (operator of London’s Docklands Light Railway), National Express (operator of Midland Metro), Transdev (operator of Dublin’s Luas tramway and a former partner in Nottingham Express Transit) and the incumbent, RATP Dev.

An invitation to negotiate will be issued in early 2016 and it is expected that the contract would be signed in January 2017 for a July start.
