Łódź orders Swing ‘evolution’

In early April Polish operator MPK Łódź announced an agreement with Pesa for the supply of 12 new Swing trams for delivery in September 2018, although the city is hoping that the first cars can be delivered in the early part of the year. The total cost is quoted as PLN99.6m (EUR23.5m), made possible in part by European Union funding.

Łódź already has 32 Pesa trams (ten delivered in 2008 and 22 delivered in 2015). The latest order is an evolution of the 2015
cars with an extra ten seats and a redesigned interior with better access for those with reduced mobility. Other enhancements are featured in the cab layout, influenced by feedback from the system’s drivers.
