Construction has officially started on the 2.1km (1.3-mile) DART (Direct Air to Rail Transit) project connecting London Luton Airport with Luton Airport Parkway station.

Construction has officially started on the 2.1km (1.3-mile) DART (Direct Air to Rail Transit) project connecting London Luton Airport with Luton Airport Parkway station. The GBP225m (EUR256m) automated peoplemover is expected to serve the UK airport from 2021, running 24 hours a day from Bartlett Square alongside the station to the Central Terminal Area, with the option of a stop to serve the airport’s mid-stay car park.

The DART is intended to reduce travel times between London’s St Pancras station and the airport terminal to around 30 minutes.

Civil engineering is undertaken by a VolkerFitzpatrick-Kier joint venture, with the transport system delivered by Doppelmayr.
