Lynx Blue Line opening postponed

The Lynx Blue Line extension will not open in August as planned, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has announced.

The Lynx Blue Line extension will not open in August as planned, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has announced.

The delay is due to ‘construction coordination challenges’, but despite this, CATS have said the USD1.6bn project would remain under budget and that they will try any time-saving activities that might help them complete the 9% of construction left.

The Blue Line extension will run between Uptown Charlotte and UNC Charlotte, with 107 trams planned to arrive at campus each day once the line is complete. CATS and the University are negotiating for students to receive a USD50 all-access pass for light rail, buses and trolley systems.
