French public transport authority SITURV has awarded RATP Dev the seven-year contract to operate the Transville light rail and bus network in Valenciennes and Porte du Hainaut from 1 January 2015. The 81 municipalities covered by the contract have a combined population of around 350 000.
RATP Dev expects the contract to generate EUR350m in revenues, and is committing EUR25m in investment over the seven-year period, including the renewal of over 50 buses.
Further commitments under the new contract include higher frequencies and better integration of bus and tramways services, enhanced revenue protection and safety activities, and closer partnerships with local non-profit organisations.
The Transvilles network – currently operated by Transdev – includes a 18.3km (11.4-mile) two-line two tramway network, operated by a fleet of 30 Alstom Citadis low-floor trams, 27 bus lines and a future BRT line scheduled to open in 2016.
