Service commenced on the new tram line on the right bank of the Odra River in Szczecin, Poland, on 29 August, just two days after the inauguration ceremony.

Plans for the construction of the first phase of the line were agreed in 2013, with works being undertaken by a Mytoll-Strabag consortium.

This first phase runs over 4km (2.5 miles) of double-track from the Basen Gorniczy loop to ul Turkuwosa, with four stops along its length. The second phase, to be built under the 2014-20 EU-sourced budget, will run 2.9km (1.8 miles) with four stops.
